Ilja Zeljenka’s Overtura giocosa from 1982, one of the most popular and most performed symphonic compositions of the grand representative of our music avant-garde, will open the festival presentation of our radio orchestra led by Ondrej Lenárd. The impressive music of the opening and conclusion of Wagner’s opera Tristan and Isolde, building the ideological and compositional arch of the piece, is an evergreen of festive concerts. Executed by the excellent vocal soloist and the legendary conductor it will undoubtedly be a delight for the audience. The second part of the concert will bring the air of French and Italian Impressionism – Debussy’s Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun from 1893, inspired by Stephan Mallarmé’s famous poem, and Roman Festivals suite, the third part of the virtuoso “Roman” trilogy of Ottorino Respighi, will test the dispositions of our radio orchestra musicians and give them an opportunity to present themselves in the best light possible.
