Charismatic conductor Hannu Lintu and Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra come to
Bratislava with a partly non-traditional programme. The Finn Sebastian Fagerlund (1972),
often labeled as a post-modern impressionist, belongs among the most distinctive representatives
of the Finnish music scene. He has worked with many music genres, but the core
of his work consists in symphonic compositions. From them we will hear the piece Drifts
from 2017. The Turkish composer and pianist Fazil Say elicited attention of the public with
his eccentric performances (his jazz improvisation on Mozart’s Turkish March themes is
well-known), but also with his compositions inspired by oriental topics and wild rhythms
from his native country. His piece will be executed by the excellent master-percussionist,
the Austrian Martin Grubinger.
The Symphonie Fantastique by Hector Berlioz (played on the occasion of the 150th anniversary
of the composer’s death) belongs to the jewels of Romantic orchestral literature and
each its performance enjoys an extensive interest of the audience.
